Winter Warmers: Ice Bar London

Darlings. I don’t know what to tell you. It appears that I’m obsessed with winter and all winter-related activities. I blame the fact that I grew up in the tropics! Even after all these years, there’s still an element of novelty. Of course, I also blame Disney’s Frozen. I know I wasn’t the only one screaming out “YAAAAASS” during Princess Elsa’s fierce, icy transformation…

So after months of belting out “HERE I STAAAAAND… AND HERE I STAY” at every opportunity, you can imagine my excitement at hearing about Ice Bar London. I checked out the spiel on their website: “a cold sensory experience where the walls, bar, tables and even your own personal glass are made from crystal clear Torne River ice which is harvested from the pristine winter wonderland of Jukkasjarvi in Northern Sweden.” Well, spank my tush and call me Sally! Just the other day I was saying how I needed more Jukkasjarvi in my life.

So without further delay, my gal pal Miss Fufu and I trotted down to see what all the fuss was about.

Upon arrival, a nice young man in a sharp suit checked our tickets and whisked us into an orderly queue. Another nice young man handed us a cocktail menu (your first cocktail is included in the entry price YAY). When we got to the head of the queue, yet another nice young man expertly threw a fur-lined cape over our clothes.

So guys, this is when I lost all my behaviour and home training. Those capes are EVERYTHING! I felt like Ivana Trump boarding a private jet, dahling. We sashayed into the Ice Bar, and I was enchanted.

It was absolutely stunning. Like being inside a glacier, with absolutely everything carved out of ice. The lighting was gorgeous too- pulsating blues, purples and greens. We immediately headed over to the ice truck that serves as the bar, and hopped into the front to survey the area.

There were small tables to lean on, corner booths… all made of ice. We were particularly taken by our cocktail glasses!

I loved that the fierce cape came with gloves attached. No frostbite. There were also some incredible ice sculptures, including a giant cupcake. I was dying to lick it, but I knew Miss Fufu would leave me stuck there. There was also a huge hollow pineapple that you could stand in. Good clean fun.

So your ticket gets you a 40 minute session in the Ice Bar. You sip your cocktail, enjoy the funky music, and then either head over to the in-house restaurant or step out to continue your evening! The vibe in there was nice and buzzy but not too overcrowded. What I loved most was the pure, childlike joy you saw in all the faces. Even the investment bankers (I saw you guys).

I think this would be a great little pre-dinner activity with friends, or even a unique icebreaker (you see what I did there) on a first date. Just think of the snuggling opportunities!

So bottoms up, sweethearts! Do you wanna build a snowman? Or nah?

Christmas OOTD!

Hi darlings! How was Christmas?

Thought I’d post a little something for you to read while you play with your new Christmas pressies! What better day to share my first ever Outfit of The Day?

I decided to serve Christmas realness in all black with my new Very Favourite Dress. This gorgeous long-sleeved black bodycon number is from River Island (£30).

I also picked up the urrings from River Island (£4). They’re adorable sparkly gold hoops because it’s Jesus’ birthday and it’s what he would have wanted.

I’m also wearing little ankle booties from my beloved Primark, which I picked up last autumn. I can’t remember how much they were exactly, but let’s face it, it was Primark so probably about a fiver LOL!

And now let’s get into the face yah?

I went for luminous skin, bold brows, a smokey eye and a deep red lip.

Here’s what I used to create this look.

MAC Studio Fix Foundation fluid in NW47
MAC Blot Powder/Pressed in Deep Dark
L.A. Girl PRO Conceal HD in Fawn

Sleek i-Divine Eyeshadow Palettes in Storm and Au Naturel
Rimmel Eyebrow Pencil in Black Brown
Benefit “They’re Real” Mascara in Black

Nars Blusher in Desire
Seventeen Shimmer Brick in Gold Bronze

MAC lip pencil in Cherry
Revlon lipstick in Red Revival

Et voila! Instant holiday fierce! I hope you all had a wonderful day. Hugsies!

Weekly Nailgasm: Christmas Edition!

My sweethearts, it’s Christmas Eve and I couldn’t be more excited! You all know I LIVE for glitz, glam and all-round eleganza, and Christmas is the perfect time to get really stuck in.

Before I get knee-deep in turkey and champagne, I wanted to quickly share my festive nail combo with you guys. I decided to treat myself and go get my nails did at my fave salon. My North London gals- get on down to Chapel Spa Nail and Beauty in Angel, STAT! Ask for my homegirl Cindy, she’s the bestest and I adore her.

One layer of OPI “Big Apple Red” was used, with OPI Liquid Sand in “Impossible” on top. I love this Liquid Sand polish- it’s a pink/red glitter with tiny silver dots and stars.

Tres cute, right?

Have a wonderful festive season my darlings! Eat EVERYTHING, laugh, love, kiss boys (or girls), take care, and be fierce! God bless x

Winter Warmers: Southbank Christmas Market

Dahlings! Adjpants here, reporting live from the Winter Wonderland that is currently London. I’m normally not a huge fan of Christmas. I always spend the festive season in the tropics, and while it’s fabulous and hot and lush, it doesn’t always feel that Christmassy.

This year for a change I’ll be staying put in London, sharing with you all the sparkly, rosy-cheeked joy of a white Christmas! Yay!

So let’s get started with Winter Warmer number 1: Southbank Christmas Market, at London’s thriving Southbank Centre. Lemme go ahead and paint you a word picture: think twinkling lights, carousels, mulled wine, bustling food stalls of every description, adorable wooden chalets, handmade gifts that would make Etsy weep… this market is THE CUTEST.

If you only do 3 things at the Christmas Market, they should be:

1. Visit the Frenchie food stand for duck fat french fries. YES. You heard me. They took the world’s most delicious food and f*cking fried it in duck fat. Then just because they have zero chill, they served it with an exquisite truffle mayo. I just… I just can’t. This was pure melt-in-your-mouth heaven.

And so your fries don’t get lonely, why not nestle them next to a duck confit burger?

2. Hang out at the Rekordelig Cider Lounge, in a hip Swedish fashion. I feel about Rekordelig cider the way most people feel about sex. Yes, I said it. So my joy at seeing this lounge was no surprise. It was adorable! Pared down light wooden floors, little sparkling trees, communal-style bench tables and a few cosy booths… plus all the sweet cider you can chug. Go.

3. Getchu a piece of the gorgeous handmade soaps and creams from Sou & Co’s stand! I saved the best for last. I insist that you hunt down this stall upon the immediate. Not only is the display the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen, the products smell and feel sumptuous. From lavender infused soap to pure shea butter hand cream, you’ll find everything you need to stay silky-smooth this winter. Check them out at

Other special mentions go to the epic waffle stand where my gal pal had a waffle topped with confit duck and a biodynamic egg. From the small piece I stole before receiving a swift slap (I kid, it was just warning side-eye) I can report back that it was delicious.

Also do check out the Polish Sausage stand, which had a queue snaking round the chalets for miles. They’re doing something to those weiners that people can’t get enough of!

It was a lovely mid-week jaunt and I highly recommend a visit. Great vibe, lovely food and lots to spend your cash on…

The market is open until January so go on and treat yo’self! I know for damn sure I’m going back for a do-over. Because you see the way those duck fat fries were set up…

When: Until 4th January 2015.
(Open Monday to Thursday 10am – 9pm, Friday and Saturday 10am – 10pm, Sunday 10am – 9pm)

Where: Southbank Centre, Belvedere Road, London, SE1 8XX

How much: It’s free boo!

Where The Heart Is

My darlings! I’m sorry for my absence. After a busy few months in the mean streets of London, I’m taking a well-deserved break. I’m spending the festive season with my folks in Nigeria.

I’ve lived away from home for most of my life, but the truth is that you never get used to being away from those you love. Being at home, I find that I breathe easier. Sleep easier.

I took this lovely picture from the front porch when I woke up on my first morning back. It made me think: I must be blessed because nobody gets quite this lucky, this often.

Love, Adjpants
